If you enjoy walking or hiking in the hills, then this page is for you.
We have done these walks and recorded them on our hand held Garmin Etrex 20 GPS device and made the data available to you.
We lend you our GPS device when you come to stay, with the walks and geocaches
(
what’s a geocache?) already loaded;
but if your device is better than ours then it is probably better to download these walks into yours.
There are also almost 500 geocaches to download but you will find more up to date geocaches
at
www.geocaching.com,
somebody’s been busy, can you see
The Sheep
,
The Vulture
,
The Clog
and
The Circle
?
To see a particular walk on the map displayed below, click on the
icon at the top of the map.
Now you can select a walk from any of the walks that have just opened up and see it highlighted on the map.
You can also change the underlying map from this panel to show roads rather than the satellite imagery.
The walks listed here can be downloaded as GPX files by clicking on the download
symbol
for the walk (or
to download a PDF version);
you can then upload them into your own GPS devices or view them
with Google Earth (start Google Earth, click Ctrl+O and select the downloaded GPX file)
or they can be viewed here as a Google map by just clicking on the name of the walk.
If you don’t find what you are looking for here, try our
tourist office’s page for downloading walks.
